The Reoccurring Dream

I have this reoccurring dream that I am in a large empty room. I am standing there in the middle of this room crying. When I look down I realize my tears are blood, streaming down my face onto my clothes and the floor. However very soon after the bloody tears hit a surface they dissolve into a black mist or smoke. In this dream I do not panic even though in real life I would have. Instead I welcome it because I know the darkness in me is trying to take over, and I let it. The more tears the more darkness that begins to gather in the air around me, like a force field of my own. Then suddenly someone touches my shoulder as they say “Stop” and I feel it all fall away. The darkness I harbored for so long, the darkness I was finally letting take over, disappears. I feel vulnerable instantly but as I turn around to see who it was that touched me I wake up. And echoing in my head is the voice of a young man, who in my dreams has saved me from self destruction.

When Fears Come to Life

“We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.”
– Jim Morrison

More often then none your fears come to life before your dreams. It seems in order to obtain your dream you must first tackle fear. Fear manifests as the one standing in between you and your dream. This causes most people to back down from what they want and retreat into their shell of conformity. Trust me, I have done it many times over.

Fear:  An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous (noun)

To be afraid of someone or something that is likely to be dangerous, painful or threatening (verb)

As you can see the worlds definition of fear is highly inaccurate. It is one of those things that cannot simply be summarized into a few sentences or words. In reality fear is what you make it. You can fear anything from a spider to the future. A spider is deemed scary and threatening to some due to their appearance. Their eight legs and many eyes is an abnormality to humans and of course the larger the spider, the stronger the fear. However a fear of the future ahead of you is deeper. A fear so deep only the one harnessing that fear can explain it.

It can become an obsession if you allow it to take over. So don’t.

When fear manifests itself to you, ignore it.

When fear tries to stop you from achieving what you want most, move past it.

Those of us who can face ours fears will come out stronger in the end. With fear you can never be ready. Instead of taking that step backwards, take two forwards and see where it takes you. I still have many deep fears myself to face and am hoping I can move past them but I will never know unless I try.

Don’t be scared,
